Abstract:
Theoretical calculations have demonstrated the theoretical possibility of transforming solar energy very efficiently in closed thermochemical cycles based on a direct endothermic catalytic reaction that heats up the reactants with the primary source of heat and a reverse exothermic catalytic reaction that release the heat for the user. This paper reports results of experimental research on the study-state operation of a catalytic solar energy device that employs a closed thermochemical cycle based on the conversion of methane by steam and carbon dioxide (the endothermic stage) and methanation (methane enrichment) of the synthesis gas (the exothermic stage).
