Abstract:
The effects of Ti, Zr, Hf, and lanthanide ions (anchored to SiO2 surfaces) on the catalytic properties of dispersed particles of Ni, Pd, and Pt were determined The anchored ions increased the resistance of the metal particles to sintering in H2. Hydrogenation of CO showed an increase in activity but C6H6 hydrogenation and C2H6 hydrogenolysis over Pt and Pd were decreased by the presence of the Group IVB and lanthanide ions.
