Abstract:
Calculations of the electronic structure of the heteropoly anions [PM12O40-]n- [M = V(V), Mo(VI), W(VI)] with the Keggin structure have been carried out by the MO-LCAO method in the Huckel approximation. It has been shown that the charges on the atoms of the heteropo!y anions obtained accurately reflect the postulated tendency of the bridging oxygen atoms to undergo protonation, as well as the decrease in the stability of the heteropoly anions along the series W > Mo >> V. The spectroscopic properties are poorly conveyed in the approximation adopted. The redox properties of such heteropoly anions have been discussed.
