Abstract:
V0.95Mo0.97O5, electron microdiffraction, and high-resolution electron microscopy have been applied to the structure of polycrystalline (V4+/V 5+ =0.6). Unit-cell parameters: a -= 6.3340, b = 4.0463, c = 3.7255 A, alfa = 90.0, beta = 107.3,
gamma = 90.5 o, space group PI, Z =1. The atomic coordinates have been refined by complete profile analysis to
R I = 0.072, Rp = 0.001, Rwp = 0.117. The Mo and V replace one another randomly in the two independent octahedral positions: (0.4 Mo + 0.6V 4+) and (0.6Mo + 0.4V5+). The compound belongs to the V205 structural type.
