The title catalyst was produced by satg. an Al2O3 carrier with a soln. contg. Cr and Cu, followed by drying and heat treatment. To increase the mech. and thermal resistance of catalyst, to preserve its high activity, and to simplify the prodn., γ-Al2O3 or θ-Al2O3 was satd. with CuCr2O7, followed by heat treatment at 600-800°.
