Abstract: Copper chromite activated by hydrogen at 270°C for several hours has been studied by the neutron diffraction method. It has been shown that cation-deficient cubic spinel stabilized by OH groups was formed under these conditions. The structural formula of this metastable phase, which decomposes in a hydrogen flux into Cu0 and α-Cr2O3 with the temperature increase, has been refined by the Rietveld method.
