Abstract: The effect of diffusion of adsorbed species (spillover) between different areas of a heterophase surface on the general kinetics of catalytic reactions and, in particular, on CO oxidation is discussed. The synergetic effect is shown to be important in some cases. Using modeling results, an active catalyst for CO oxidation at low temperatures (300 K) is prepared.
