Abstract: The formation of carbon filaments with different crystallographic and morphological characteristics in the course of 1,3-butadiene decomposition on Fe/Al2O3 catalysts at low (500–600°C) and high (700–800°C) temperatures was considered in terms of a carbide cycle mechanism. The conditions of formation and decomposition of an iron carbide phase in the course of formation of graphite nanotubes in the low-temperature region were studied.
