Abstract: This article examines the feasibility of using photocatalytic air cleaners to reduce the concentrations of harmful gaseous impurities in shops at coke-and-coal-chemical (CCC) and metallurgical plants in order to create safe working conditions for factory personnel. It is known that the air in the shops at CCC plants contains compounds of benzene and its derivatives, benzpyrene, saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons, phenols, carbon monoxide, cyanides, oxides of nitrogen and nitrogen-bearing compounds, and oxides of sulfur and sulfur-bearing compounds, i.e., the air contains a large number of gaseous chemical compounds – most of which are toxic, and some of which can be classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, and teratogenic.
