Abstract: Liq.-phase hydrodechlorination of PhCl, C6Cl6, and polychlorinated biphenyls with H2 on Pd/C, Ni/C, or Pd-Ni/C was studied at 20-70° and 1-50 atm. The catalysts were prepd. via support impregnation with metal salt soln., drying, thermal treatment, and subsequent treatment with NaBH4 as reducing agent. Pd/C and Pd-Ni/C showed the highest activity and dechlorinated efficiently polychlorinated arenes at 70°. Kinetic studies proved the hydrodechlorination of these compds. to be consecutive reactions.
