Abstract: Supercritical solvent extraction has been used for drying of wet gels in the production of SiO2 monoliths, with methanol and liquid CO2 used as solvents. The influence of various process parameters and nature of the solvent on the structural and mechanical properties of the monoliths obtained has been studied.
