Abstract: The nature of high temperature carbon states at Pt(110) has been studied by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. The formation of diamond-like carbon (DLC) is reported for the first time. The kinetics and temperature-programmed reactions of DLC were numerically simulated.
