Abstract: NMR study revealed the presence of impurities in separate batches of commercial surfactant Sul'firol-8 used as emulsifier in polystyrene production and allowed identification of these impurities. The origin of the impurity was elucidated, and the influence of its concentration on the efficiency or polystyrene production was determined.
