Abstract: A mechanism of formation of the active surface structure in vanadium-titanium catalysts of various compositions, prepared from well crystallized TiO2 (anatase) and its mixtures with TiO2.nH2O, was proposed. Factors responsible for different stability to the action of the reaction medium in oxidation of durene to pyromellitic dianhydride were established.
