Abstract: The state of Ti(IV) in hydrochloric acid solutions was studied by (2)H, (17)O, (35)Cl and (49)Ti NMR. In solutions, titanium is primarily incorporated into the TiOCl(4)(H(2)O)(x) complexes (x = 0, 1), which represent the monomer or low-nuclearity oligomers, including the dimers with trans- and cis-arranged oxygen atoms and bridging chloro, ligands.
