Abstract: The kinetics of the UV-induced polymerization and photolysis of Langmuir-Blodgett films prepared from the cadmium, lead, and copper salts of 23-tetracosynoic and 2-docosynoic acids, carboxylic acids with a terminal and an internal triple bond. Small-angle X-ray scattering was used to study the structure of the films, in particular the bilayer periods before and after polymerization. Atomic absorption spectroscopy was used to determine the compositions of the initial layers of the Cd, Pb, and Cu salts of 2-docosynoic acid. Based on the data obtained, the mechanism of the solid-phase polymerization of films prepared from acetylene compounds was examined.
