Abstract: A mathematical model for the catalytic oxidation of C3-C4 hydrocarbons on a porous permeable plate is proposed. The model includes convective and diffusive transport across the plate, as well as the nonisothermal behavior of the process. An algorithm in which the model equations are solved by the continuation method is developed. Coefficients of heat transfer between the catalytic surface and surrounding medium are determined. It is shown that the contribution of the radiant component to the overall rate of heat transfer is significant. The influence of parameters of the mathematical model on the distribution of temperatures and mixture-component concentrations across the plate is studied numerically with reference to the process of propane and butane oxidation with countercurrent or cocurrent feed of reactants.
