Abstract: A tubular catalytic apparatus of the new type, in which the heat-release and heat-exchange surfaces are not spatially separated, is described. Reactors based on devices of this type allow strongly exothermal chemical reactions to be performed with no significant overheating of the catalyst. This provides the ability to carry out processes with nearly stoichiometric reagent ratios without diluting the catalyst layer with an inert component. Advantages of reactors of the new type are demonstrated in the case of benzene and nitrobenzene hydrogenation and hydrogen oxidation reactions.
