Abstract:
Values of the heteronuclear Overhauser effect with selective irradn. of CH2 protons the spin-lattice relaxation time were measured for CO and CH2 carbon nuclei of the mol. intermediate obsd. in the Pd(OAc)2/PPh3/CF3COOH/H2O catalytic system for the synthesis of diethylketone from CO, H2, and C2H4. The results indicate that the distance between the H nucleus of the CH2 group and the C nucleus of the CO group is ∼1.75 Å, indicating that the obsd. intermediate is the title propionyl Pd complex rather than the carbonylethyl Pd complex (PPh3)2Pd(CO)(Et).
