Abstract: Physico-chemical methods are used to show that Pt-Ni particles obtained by the simultaneous reduction of the salts Pt2+ and Ni2+ by sodium nitrate have a mean diameter of about 2 nm. It is determined that nickel and platinum do not form an alloy and that the particles have the structure of a sweet cherry, consisting of a platinum stone and a nickel pulp. Both the nickel and the platinum are in the oxidized state in this case.
