Abstract: The structure of polymeric complexes of rhodium(III), synthesized from ethanolic solutions of RhCl3 and various polyamines and recently found to be rather efficient catalysts for dihydrogen evolution from water after some activation, is discussed. The coordination sphere of rhodium ions in such complexes is shown to contain two or four nitrogen donor atoms, depending on the structure of polymeric ligands and on the rhodium content in the polymer.
