Abstract: Styrene, naphthalene, 2-methylnaphthalene, and anthracene are adsorbed on H3PW12O40 and H3PW12O40/SiO2 at 25–150°C to form carbonium ions and cation radicals. The carbonium ions are likely to be generated in the adsorption of o-xylene, m-xylene, pseudocumene, and durene on H3PW12O40.
