Abstract: The texture of silica gel was studied as function of their periodic or continuous precipitation. At an increase of temperature, pH, and a decrease of precipitation rate the surface area and the total pore volume of the xerogel decreased and the molecular-​sieve characteristics increased owing to a simultaneous increase of the average macropore divisions. The mechanism of texture formation of silica gel is discussed.
