Abstract: The hydrogenation was studied of CO on catalysts obtained by the thermal decomposition of Co2(CO)​8 on MgO, γ-​Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, and ZrO2. Both normal hydrocarbons and α-​olefins are produced. The mol yield of C4-​C22 hydrocarbons follows the Schultz-​Flory distribution. Possible reaction mechanisms are discussed.
