Abstract: The kinetics of the dehydrogenation of cyclohexane to benzene over 0. 5% Pt/Al2O3 catalyst has been studied at 280-340 o, 188 gPa initial partial pressure of cyclohexane, and 0. 1-0. 8 conversion. In addition to the effect of the reverse reaction, the reaction is retarded by benzene. The kinetic model obtained is based on a two-stage mechanism, with dissociative adsorption of cyclohexane as the rate-determining step.
