Abstract: The kinetics of CO oxidation was studied in the presence of aquo complexes of Pd(II), VO2+, Fe3+, and heteropoly-acids H3PMO12O40, H4PMo11VO40, and H4PW11VO40. A comparison of the present and published results on oxidation with strong oxidizing agents, such as Cr2O72-, of Ce4+, reveals that for a fast oxidation, the oxidation potential should be 0.7-1.0 V. The intermediate carbonyl complexes of partially reduced Pd are the most active catalysts of the oxidation.
