Abstract: IR spectra have been recorded for methanol adsorbed on CuO at temperatures 293-473 K together with TPD (thermal programmed desorption) spectra for methanol, ethanol, and butanol-2. A correlation has been established between the mode of alcohol as indicated by the TPD spectra and the carbonate-carboxylate structures identified by IR spectroscopy.
