The hydrodemetallation (HDM) reaction of VO-tetra(tert-butylphenyl)porphine on Ni-Mo and Mo catalysts, supported on a carbon carrier of the Sibunit type, proceeds in the same manner as that on the catalysts supported on mineral carriers. Ni-Mo/Sibunit and Mo/Sibunit catalysts exhibit high activity in the conversion of model compounds. A fast activity drop at the initial period, which is typical of the catalysts supported on alumina, is not inherent to these catalysts.
