Abstract: An analysis is presented of kinetic trends arising from a 3-​stage adsorption mechanism assuming a large interaction constant for adsorbed substances (in terms of an ideal adsorbed layer)​. The dependence of reaction rate on reagent partial pressure can have a discontinuity. A simple interpretation of kinetic data for H oxidation on Pt(111) and (110) is given.
