Abstract: For a two-phase model of a reactor in which the two-stage reaction occurs with formation of an intermediate substance on the catalyst surface, we have analyzed the effect of dynamic properties of the catalytic surface on the cyclic high-temperature regimes arising upon periodic variation in the feed direction for the reaction mixture. With this goal, we compare results obtained using steady-state and nonsteady-state kinetic models. We explain the dependence of the maximum temperature on the half-cycle length and the dependence of the reagent concentrations at the reactor outlet on time over the half-cycle.
