Abstract:
The activities of H3PO4/silica gel and polycrystalline Si(HPO4)2 and SiP2O7 were studied with respect to 1-butene isomerization. The initial catalyst composition and the calcination temperature control activity. High resolution 1H and 31P NMR studies established the influence of these factors on the compositions of compounds formed and on the H+ ion state in these catalysts. All types of POH group are active in catalyzing the reaction, with the POH group in H3PO4/silica gel being most active.
