Abstract:
Adsorption-contact drying and sublimation drying methods were used to prepare Ag/SiO2 catalysts with metal particle dimensions predominantly in the range 2-5 nm. Differences in the electronic properties of bulk and dispersed Ag (on the SiO2 support) were studied by Auger electron spectroscopy and XPS). The electron binding energies E(3 d5/2) were 368.1 and 368.5 eV, resp., and the kinetic energies E(MNN) were 358.2 and 357.7 eV, resp., showing the electronic state of highly disperse Ag differs from that of bulk Ag.
