Abstract: Procedures have been developed for the synthesis of Mn-containing hydroxide catalysts of the oxidation of water to O2, stabilized by colloidal starch solutions. It has been suggested that the catalysts consist of small active particles, chemically bonded to starch, and relatively inactive larger particles of colloidal size. It has been shown that among the three valence forms of manganese (II, III, IV), Mn(III) should be used to obtain the most selective catalysts.
