Abstract: The photoelectron spectroscopy technique has been used to study the oxygen species on the surface of powdered ZnO which are reactive with CO. The experiments were performed over the 30–160 eV range of photon energies using Mg X-rays. It was found that the form of OS− fixed at the defects on the microcrystal faces is reactive.
