Abstract:
IR-spectroscopic studies indicate that on the oxidized surface of V2O5/Al2O3 catalysts propylene interacts mainly with Brönsted acid centers to form an alcoholate type complex transforming into acetone. On the reduced surface propylene is stabilized as a π-complex of V3+ and V4+ ions.
