Abstract: Formation of nitrogen oxides in the oxidation of pyridine over different oxide catalysts (26% CuO/γ-Al2O3, 30% CuCr2 O4/γ-Al2O3 and 5% CuCr2O4/γ-Al2O3) has been studied in the temperature range of 260–520°C. At total pyridine conversion (350–520°C) the conversion of the bound nitrogen to oxides (XNOx) falls sharply with increasing initial concentration of pyridine in an excess of oxygen. The XNOx value falls drastically also at a constant pyridine concentration as the mixture approaches the stoichiometric composition.
