Abstract: The activity of metallic (Pto) and electron-deficient (Ptσ) platinum in Pt/Al2O3 catalysts has been studied in the low temperature hydrogenation of benzene. Reaction kinetics has been clarified. It is shown that water preadsorption does not affect the character of kinetic curves, but enhances the reaction rate due to an increase in the specific activity of Ptσ.
