Abstract: LEED studies of the order-disorder transition in a (2×2)O layer on Pt(111) and stepped Pt(s) surface have been performed. Oxygen reactivity to CO is shown to decrease in the series: Ochem in (2×2)O on Pt(111) and Pt(s) terraces > Ochem in 2(ID)O on steps > oxygen in surface oxides.
