Abstract: Interaction of oxygen with Rh(100) at PO2PO2 =10−7–10−1 Pa and T>300 K has been studied by thermodesorption (TD) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). It has been established that oxygen is adsorbed with a sticking coefficient of So=0.3 on the Rh surface with carbon admixtures in the near-surface region (C272/Rh302=0.025). In thermodesorption there appear β1, β2 and β3 states of oxygen. With increasing oxygen pressure under adsorption, surface rhodium oxide is formed whose decomposition evolves oxygen, which is recorded as a sharp β1 peak.
