Abstract: Chemical shifts of tetrahedrally and octahedrally coordinated aluminium in various crystal and amorphous compounds have been determined by high-resolution solid-state 27Al NMR. A similarity between chemical shifts of aluminium in amorphous and crystalline compounds of the same composition has been revealed. For binary compounds the chemical shifts are in a linear relationship with the electronegativity of elements bonded to aluminium-oxygen polyhedra.
