Abstract: Upon simultaneous oxidation of c-hexene and hydrogen with molecular oxygen, epoxide of c-hexene is formed on Pt catalysts in absence of a porphyrin-like co-catalyst, provided that a part of Pt in the catalysts is in a metallic state and (i) the catalysts were reduced at moderate temperature or (ii) special combination of two Pt catalysts was used or (iii) hydrogen chloride was added into the reactor. The nature of the active sites responsible for the epoxide formation is discussed.
