Abstract: Silver clusters characterized by an absorption band at 320 nm are found to be easily stabilized by zeolites of mordenite type. Size of the clusters is discussed on the basis of results on introducing silver clusters into the zeolites with various channel diameters and on electron microscopy and low-angle X-ray scattering (LAXS) data. The silver cluster concentration is obtained to depend on the mordenite chemical composition. At 373 K in hydrogen the maximum formation of silver clusters is observed for the mordenites with SiO2/AI203 ratio 19 – 72.
