Abstract: A lattice-gas model and absolute rate theory are used to describe the influence of lateral interactions on the Langmuir-Hinshelwood bimolecular reaction on a surface. The rate of the reaction is expressed through the probabilities of distribution of particles on the surface. These probabilities are calculated in the quasi-chemical approximation. Results indicate that the rate of reaction strongly depends on surface coverages and on the surface structure already when interaction energies approximately equal kT.
