Abstract: On the assumption of nonisothermality of catalyst granules, a numerical investigation has been carried out of the behavior of the thermal front in an adiabatic fixed bed. It has been shown that an accounting for heat transfer within the catalyst grain lowers the calculated maximum temperature. A determination has been made of the region of parameters of the reaction system in which simpler models can be used for the calculation of transient regimes.
