Abstract: A scheme is suggested for CO oxidation based on the reaction of Pd carbonate complex with an acid followed by the reduction of Pd(II) to Pd(0) by CO. The catalytic oxidation of CO takes place if the acid anion is a weakly coordinated ligand. The results are given for the oxidation of CO by O at 40° in the presence of Ph3P Pd complexes (CO pressure 500 mm, O pressure 250 mm) in a H2O-dioxane solution (10% H2O) containing 0.225M CF3COOH.
