Abstract:
An analysis of spectral dependence of abs. quantum yield of photoadsorption of O and of photocatalytic oxidation of CO reveals that the ion radical O- is the only active O form in CO oxidation . Based on photocatalytic and dark oxidation kinetics an electronic mechanism of CO oxidation by O is proposed. A decrease of the negative surface potential of ZnO due to an addition of LiO and Al2O3 results in a decrease of quantum yields of photocatalytic oxidation of CO.
