Abstract: The title catalysts were prepd. by reacting tetrakis(π-allyl)zirconium [12090-34-5] with the surface of SiO2, and their activity (in polymn. of ethylene [74-85-1]) and structure (no. of Zr-H bonds and content of allyl groups) were discussed as function of the pretreatment temp. of the support and of the removal of allyl groups. Catalysts treated with H at 200° had the highest activity; the ratio allyl group-Zr in such catalysts was ∼0.
