Реферат: LEED and Auger electron spectroscopy and thermodesorption with mass spectrometric anal. at 300-800 K and 10-9-10-7 torr were used to study chemisorption and reaction of O and CO2 on the Ir (110) crystal face. O diffusion in near-surface layers of the crystal leads to micro-faceting of the (110) surface with formation of the denser (111) boundaries. At 325 K, undissocd. CO2 is adsorbed with initial sticking coeff. 1 and max. conc. 1015 mol/cm2. Ordered structures are not formed. Desorption spectra show 3 states with 1st order desorption kinetics and activation energies 37, 31, and 26 kcal/mol. O2 is adsorbed at 325 K with initial sticking coeff. 0.26 and max. coverage ∼1015 atoms/cm2 forming a 21D structure. Desorption spectra show 2 states with 2nd order desorption kinetics and activation energies ∼56 and 70 kcal/mol and a 3rd state with temp. max. peak at 1460 K caused by desorption of Ir oxides (1st order rate 1013s-1 with activation energy 89 kcal/mol). At 530 K, CO reacts with O in the adsorbed layer with activation energy 9-10 kcal/mol and pre-exponential factor 10-11cm2s-1 (limited by CO desorption).
