Abstract: The phase composition of Al-Pt catalyst, prepared by treating γ-Al2O3 with H2PtO6 solution, was studied by x-ray diffraction, by radial distribution of atoms, and by ESCA. There exist segments of the carrier where Pt concentration causes spinel-structure formation. The catalysts, oxidized in atm. at 500°, contained Pt2+, and when treated with H at 550° contained Pt+, and when treated in atm. at 700° contained Pt°.. The reduced catalyst contained ∼30% Pt in the vol. of the carrier.
