Abstract: The activities of TiO2, V2O5, Cr2O3, Mn2O3, Fe2O3, Co3O4, NiO, CuO, and ZnO catalysts in oxidation of H2 is related to their Fermi energy values, EF. Direct relations between EF and the heat of adsorption of O2 on the oxides or the activation energy of O2 isotope exchange are also obtained. The relations indicate the participation of charged forms of O2 in H2 oxidation and O2 isotope exchange.
